Free Knitting Pattern - Fabulous Fingerless Gloves.
10 x easier than normal gloves!
These fingerless gloves are awesome because you can wear them and still knit, sew or write. And for those of you who get icy cold fingers, whilst typing at the computer, late into the night – these glove will keep your fingers nice and toasty!
Follow the picture instructions - you can't go wrong!
MATERIALS Wool/Yarn:
One ball of your main colour and scraps of all the other colours you’d like to throw in! Use 4 ply wool or nylon blend. (*** To be honest, I use a whole mixture of wool types and thicknesses and I haven’t had a pair of gloves that have turned out unwearable! Some just fit more snugly than others. And if they don’t fit YOU, you’ve just created a hand-made gift for someone special!)
Needles:
You will need US-size 3 / UK-size 11 / Metric-3.25mm needles. (The pattern is shown in 4 sizes for an average child, adult small, medium and large.)
Pattern:
Cast on 40, (46, 50, 54) stitches. Row 1: (right side) purl 2, knit2, repeat to end. Row 2: knit 2, purl 2, repeat to end. Continue this rib for another 16, (18, 20, 22 rows).
Next row: Knit one row. Next row: Purl one row. Continue in this stocking stitch for 19, (21, 23, 25) rows.
Try and twist you ends around your wool/yarn as you knit. THIS SAVES YOU LOTS OF TIME AT THE END HAVING TO SEW IN ALL THESE TAILS WITH A WOOL NEEDLE.
Next you will create the thumb opening:
Next Row: (wrong side) Purl 16 (18, 19, 20) stitches, cast off 8 (10,12,14), then purl to the end
Work a further 9 (10, 11, 12) rows in stocking stitch.
Work 4 rows in rib. Cast off (NOT too tightly!).
Sewing:
Use a wool needle to join the side seam.
Sew in the little tails of wool/yarn so that they won’t pull when you take the gloves on and off.
Your nifty little knitted numbers should look divine!
